Fr. William Shontz graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in 1991 as a religion major, then graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1995 with the Master of Divinity degree. His article, "Anglican Influence on John Wesley's Soteriology" was published in the Wesleyan Theological Journal (Vol. 32, No. 1) in 1997.

After getting involved in "Anglican Realignment" in North America in 2009, he helped found Trinity Anglican Church in Erie, PA. He was ordained a Deacon in 2010 and then a priest in 2011 in the Province of the Anglican Church of Rwanda (through the Anglican Mission). With the Church of Rwanda's blessing, he received Letters Dimissory to serve in the new Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes of the Anglican Church in North America.
 
Fr. William is married to Shonlee. They have four children.
